Andrew Kagerer, trumpet, is the 2025 Ted Stevens Young Alaskan Artist. Kagerer, 25, was born and raised in Anchorage and is a 2017 graduate of South Anchorage High School. He received his Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance from the University of Montana and will enter graduate school this fall at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music, where he will pursue a Master’s degree in trumpet performance.

Kagerer will perform a full-length program of chamber music and solo works by Telemann, Takemitsu, Rachmaninov, and others. Pianist Janet Carr-Campbell will accompany.

Since 1999, the Anchorage Festival of Music has held an annual competition to recognize a performing Alaskan musical artist entering the professional field. To mark the 20th anniversary of the program and in recognition of the late Senator Ted Stevens as co-founder, the award was renamed the Ted Stevens Young Alaskan Artist Award in July 2018. Co-founder Juliana Osinchuk was named YAA Director Emerita in 2023.
