Alaska Dance Theatre
Alaska Dance Theatre (ADT), founded in 1981, is the premiere nonprofit dance organization in Alaska. It's mission is to promote dance through professional education, performance and advocacy in Alaska and to provide a recognized artistic element within the dance community for local and visiting artists to expand their creative talent while nurturing discipline, confidence, fitness and the experience of movement. Believing that dance is for everyone, Alaska Dance Theatre strives to keep its programs affordable to a wide range of the population
Each season ADT presents three concerts on its MainStage Series in the Discovery Theatre. The School of Alaska Dance Theatre presents an annual Showcase each May in the Atwood Concert Hall. In addition to these performances ADT has a small Black Box Theatre for showcasing local and visiting dancers, conducts workshops with guest artists and acts as the local dance coordinators for the Anchorage Concert Association's presentation of The Nutcracker.
