Steep Canyon Rangers

Although they reached another stratosphere of fame when actor/banjo player Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin) collaborated with the crew, North Carolina's Steep Canyon Rangers had already reached audiences beyond their bluegrass roots. Since they first jammed at UNC-Chapel Hill in the ‘90s, the Rangers have transformed into the most recognizable modern name in bluegrass, rising to the top of festivals, releasing 14 albums, and teaming up with artists as diverse as the Chicks, Boyz II Men, and Paul McCartney.
